WE THE PEOPLE
Fans of Young Justice are ferociously passionate and it is no secret that the writer of the hit show has exploited that passion. A few months ago, Greg Weisman (Creator of Young Justice) sent out a message to the fans of the show that told fans to watch as many times as possible on Netflix, in hopes of getting a third season. Have our hashtag armed warriors finally gotten their wish?
MISCOMMUNICATION AND RUMORS
A Redditor stated several days ago that he contacted Peter David (writer of YJ) at TerrificCon and David had affirmed the possibility of the third season happening, but also stated to the Redditor that the show was discontinued due to the surprisingly large female demographic not helping in toy sales and NOT because of viewing statistics or quality of the show.
Netflix has yet to make an official announcement about the next season airing on the media giant that is Netflix.
Peter David sent out a tweet stating the following…
“Yeah, that is a misquote. Meetings are just wishful thinking at this point.”
He also took to his blog, to clear up any misconception on the meeting between him and Greg Weisman and the rumor of Young Justice getting another season through Netflix.
“Mr. David, what are the chances of ‘Young Justice’ getting a third season?”
“Well, I had lunch with Greg Weisman a few weeks ago, and he said that Netflix is seriously considering ordering a third season because they’re impressed with how much people are watching it. So if you want to make it happen, keep on doing that.”
That’s what I’ve been saying for the past month, countless times, ever since I had lunch with Greg before San Diego. Seems pretty straightforward.
And suddenly I’ve been getting barraged with tweets and emails from fans asking me if it’s true that I’ve had a meeting with Netflix about writing the third season. Why? Because someone asked me the question at the recent Terrificon in Connecticut and, rather than report the answer I’ve given at least a hundred times, he instead provided his own version. I’ve no doubt it was an innocent mistake, but it’s caused a MAJOR headache for me.
Furthermore I’m now worried it could do damage to the cause, because people might think, “We did it! There’s gonna be a third season, done deal!” and then stop watching. Which would then cause Netflix to say, “Hunh, people have stopped watching, guess it was just a passing fad,” and that’s that.
So I will say it once more: It is NOT a done deal. So continue watching “Young Justice” if you want to have a hope of a third season.”
WHEN COULD WE EXPECT IN SEASON 3?
Following the trends of the last season, I would say sooner rather than later. Netflix may be holding out for now, but I don’t believe they could pass on the chance of making another season of this, given the magnitude of fans that showed their love and admiration by streaming it on Netflix, almost religiously. So, keep watching it! Seriously, it helps!
